Jennifer Owens, LMSW is Mentor My Sister’s Founder and Lead Influencer.
When I was younger, I craved and prayed for mentors and women as confidants to assist me in making life choices. After having a tribe of nieces and several nephews who lived life to adulthood and experienced life fully… I loved watching their lives grow and develop. As we all have challenges with growing up, I tried myself to sometimes offer (sometimes unwanted) advice. Maybe it was me knowing the results of my own life and seeing and reaping the challenges I dealt with personally as my own life unfolded. I craved this kind of guidance and influence, because I made so many mistakes! Also growing up I watched – as my mother and sister had some of the best friends and mentors in their lives. Watching these friendships grow as I myself grew, was sustaining. I closely observed these relationships from the age of 8 years old, until 52 years. I learned a lot. Being a therapist in the profession, I learned even more. As I became older, I had women ask me to mentor them – surprisingly – and thought I said yes, I wasn’t aware how to mentor adequately. I began to draw intimately upon all the knowledge, experienced, and observed in loving relationships from my own friends and mentors. These nurturing relationships undeveloped and uncherished and absent in the lives of other women gave me a burden for developing them with women myself.
Mentor My Sister isn’t a therapy group; although we share such concepts- we like to give women to their authentic voices in sharing perspective. We choose a focus word monthly to encourage each other with perspective and share openly and glean from each other’s resources of wisdom and knowledge.
Mentor My Sister is a place for women to self-actualize. This forum involves in person groups, retreats and women connecting. We are authentically gathering to inspire. These relationships develop and are nurtured via groups & alive apps & active discussion about wholeness & self-development via Marco Polo sessions, & conversations with excellent content that inspires women to reach for more & live life fully, with zest and liveliness.
Coaching sessions can take place by independent courses, or with individual coaching and/or group coaching sessions.
Mentor My Sister is built on the shoulders of my Sister-Friends – who have mentored me, through life. We began session in person, in Tulsa, OK. on October 15th, 2020 and have evolved over time to being online during the pandemic. We are open to inviting others and if you are interested in joining us we can talk! Just email us at email@example.com.
